A wardrobe is the piece where custom manufacturing pays for itself. Valley bedrooms are rarely square, ceilings vary from 8ft to 10ft, and a ready-made almirah always leaves a dust-collecting gap at the top and a wasted strip at the side. We measure your wall, build to the millimetre and scribe the unit to the plaster so there is no gap at all.

How to choose a wardrobe in Nepal
Sliding or hinged?
Sliding doors need no swing space but you can only see half the wardrobe at once, and the track costs more. Hinged doors are cheaper, give full access, and need about 2ft of clearance.
Core material decides the monsoon life
Use BWP (boiling water proof) plywood for the carcass in ground-floor and north-facing rooms. MDF swells if water reaches it, so we keep MDF to shutters in dry, upper-floor rooms.
Plan the inside, not just the doors
Count your saris, suits and shirts before we design. Sari drawers, a 4ft hanging bay and one full-height section for coats usually covers a Nepali family's needs.
Go to the ceiling
A loft costs less than the dusting it saves. Floor-to-ceiling units also stop the gap where rats and dust settle in older Kathmandu buildings.
Material and finish options
- Carcass: BWP plywood (recommended), commercial plywood, or HDHMR.
- Shutters: laminate (600+ shades), acrylic gloss, Duco paint, veneer, or solid wood.
- Hardware: soft-close hinges and channels, anti-jump sliding tracks, aluminium profile handles.
- Interiors: hanging rails, sari drawers, pull-out trays, safe locker provision, LED sensor lighting.
Care and maintenance in Nepal's climate
- Leave the shutters open for half an hour on sunny days during monsoon to air the interior.
- Silica or camphor sachets in drawers prevent musty smells in July and August.
- Clean laminate with a soft damp cloth; never use thinner, which lifts the edge banding.
- Lubricate sliding tracks yearly with dry silicone, not oil, which attracts dust.
